Note on collar of abandoned dog - I need a family

The dog was dumped outside the Tri-County Veterinary Hospital on Route 45 here, just south of Woodstown, on the night of Dec. 20.

She wore a red collar with her name written in black ink along with the message, “I need a family.”

Since her story appeared in the media, the outpouring of concern for the abandoned pooch has been overwhelming.

Offers to adopt Amber, which is likely to take place soon, have come in from around the region and beyond. 

According to Tri-County Office Manager Nikki Shakespeare, Amber has been vetted, taken care of and been on several trials with foster homes.

“We just want to make sure it’s a good fit. The home we are looking at has a beagle and children, and it looks good,” Shakespeare said.
